UCSD Regional Conference 2020

Bending the Curve

The effects of climate change are already here -- and the next few decades are crucial for mitigating the increasingly catastrophic effects on the environment. The Keeling Curve, created by Dr. Charles Keeling --a geochemist at Scripps Institution of Oceanography affiliated with UCSD, shows the accelerated ascending trend of carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere.  "Bending the curve" refers to our goal of flattening the upward trajectory of anthropogenically-induced warming trends.  As engineers, we have a responsibility to bridge the gap between scientific research and sustainable solutions. This conference will bring bright minds together, to rise to the challenge of "flattening the curve" and finding scalable solutions for long lasting sustainability.
